Bustifer

by David Yehudah, Bellflower, CA, USA

--------------

Well, Mittens is now officially Bustifer. He's turning into a real sweetie, a regular lap fungus. When I sit on the couch, he sticks his head under my hand for a skritch, then rolls over on his back for me to scratch his tummy. He'll sit there and do that for hours. If I pull my hand back, he finds it right away and does it again.

Seems there was more to the story than meets the eye. BIL was tired of having him around because, according to him, the cat was too aloof, never seeking affection. Plus he had been going potty on the carpet on a regular basis, although BIL did admit it may have been because no one ever cleaned the litter pan. Poor Bustifer had been cowering in the basement for two or three months, partly because of the dogs and partly because BIL yelled at him a lot.

Since he's been here Bustifer has been using the litter box regularly with no accidents. The only problem he's had here is Toby. That durn mutt likes to find the cat asleep, sneak up on him, and bark frantically right by him. Bustifer is usually at the other end of the house before he turns to see what scared him. Methinks Toby may be in for a surprise one of these days.
