Surprise

Just wanted to share with you another episode in the ongoing "As the Stomach Turns" soap opera we have around here.

I woke up about four this morning with an "urge to purge," otherwise known as a full bladder. Trying to keep physical and mental activity down to a minimum so as to make it easier to get back to sleep on my return, I slowly shuffled around the bed and into the bathroom. I can't hit the bowl in the dark, and I didn't want to turn on the light and get fully awakened; that often leads to two or three hours watching old movies on tv. So when I got to where I thought the pot was, I turned and flopped down in Patty's lap!

Yes! I felt that exclamation mark all the way to the bone, raising the hair on my head and causing me to let out a shriek way above high C. That caused Patty to reply with a shriek of her own that left me deaf in one ear the rest of the night. Seems she had gone to the loo earlier and fallen asleep sitting there. Her brother, John, who sleeps across the hall, ran out into the hallway in his bright red Bikini underwear thinking he was being attacked by his ex.

We all three came downstairs and watched old movies until we fell asleep in the living room.

Sam has been nervous as a cat all morning; she seems to have developed a twitch in one eye and an uncontrollable urge to see in every direction simultaneously. Toby propped his eyelids open with toothpicks and seems to have almost mastered the owls' trick of appearing to turn his head 360 degrees. We haven't seen Mac all morning, and our most endearing pleas for him to come out have so far failed to get him to appear.
