Sweet Story

A couple of years ago my husband Wayne who worked nights at the time, called me at work early one morning. He was laughing and said that I would never believe what happened.

My cat Reba (recently gone to Rainbow Bridge) had woken him up by standing on her hind legs and batting at his face while he was sleeping in the bed. He would wake up and say "What Reba? Didn't mommy feed you before she left for work?" When he spoke to her, she would take off running down the hall. He would go back to sleep. (He knew mommy fed her and thought she was just being goofy.) A minute later, she was back tapping on his nose. Again, when he opened his eyes, she would take off down the hall again. This happened several times until Wayne thought to himself, "What if there is some emergency and Reba, like Lassie, was trying to say that the house was on fire or something!" Finally, he got up and followed her down the hall to see what the big emergency was.

Reba stopped in the hallway near where she usually slept every morning in a square of sunshine that shined in that particular spot every day at about 9 a.m. It was only about 8:30 or 8:45 and the sun was not yet on the floor- it was shining on the wall above her spot. She stopped, turned to look at Wayne, meowed and stood on her hind legs and scratched at the spot of sun on the wall to ask him to please put it on the floor for her to sleep on. She thought that her daddy brought her the sunshine spot every morning when he woke up! How sweet!

Of course, I ribbed Wayne for a long time..."Oh daddy, please bring kitty her sunshine today!" <grin>
