Berfert has come to the conclusion that he cannot go to the bathroom without me and now wakes me up at unholy hours of the night to keep him company. Apparently, he gets bored if he is in with the cat box alone. If I do not go into the bathroom with him, he sits by the door and cries his little kitty heart out.
Now, this does not find favor with Tanada. Whenever she knows that Berfert is wanting company, she jumps on my hip and snores loudly. Berfert believes her act about as much as I do, and starts crying even louder. Meanwhile QC has decided to help the situation by waking up Tanada so that she can get up off of me, and let me keep Berfert company. Tanada doesn't like being woke up by QC poking her in the butt, and usually turns around and snarls in QC's face.
By this time, Berfert has either given up on company and gone into the bathroom on his own, or has decided that he didn't have to go that bad after all. Both choices include a running commmentary that is calculated to make it harder to go back to sleep. I try to burrow further into the blankets, but that never works.
Now, this wouldn't be so bad, but I'm recovering from my delayed Christmas disease. Every Christmas I tend to catch some disease or disorder and am ill with it for at least a month. This year I sort of caught a mild cold/allergy right around New Years and it incubated for a month then burst out full blown last Friday. I'm down to less than a box of tissues a day now and trying to rest is problematic at best. So, I'm now trying to rest, Berfert is howling at 2 am for me to keep him from being bored, Tanada is growling at QC, who is slapping her back, and we're all going nuts with each other. Not only that but Tanada thinks that my tissues are the greatest play toy ever created. She shreds them and scatters them all over my blankets. I think she wants to insulate the blankets and keep me warm. I suppose it could be worse, Amanda and Mike haven't gotten involved, yet.
