Tanada and QC have escalated their private feud to include the rest of us, or have they? Case in Point: Tanada had refused to use her kitty bed because QC had lain in it to get even with her for getting kitty treats from me. QC is refusing to come near me because I fed the enemy, and Tanada won't leave me alone because the enemy is watching her make up to me and refusing to come near me as a result. We had a cat loving friend over last night who is a little extreme in her affections. (ok we punish the daughter if she gets too pushy with the cats, why can't we do the same with this woman) Of course she had to take sides. She was petting Tanada, who was trying to act as though it were not torture. QC was watching from the doorway, her eyes changing color to green.
Mike brings Berfert into the room and plops him right into the middle of the sofa. Berfert looks frantically around him, sums up the course of events and decides to take a hand. He pushes Tanada away from the friend and toward QC, who hisses. Tanada dashes up me and hides behind me on the back of the sofa. "Protect me Mommy!" Berf pushes the hand that was going to pet him away and glares at the friend for a minute or so. He then jumps off the sofa and zips past QC, slapping her in the process. "Tag! You're it!" QC glares at the room in general and wheels about in order to chase Berfert down the hall and runs smack dab into Amanda who has just left the shower and is walking down the hall wearing nothing but a towel and a lot of water. She is soaking wet, as usual. QC stops, shakes her head, glares up at Mandy and slowly leaves the room with as much dignity as she can muster.
I hear Berfert meow at QC and QC answering him. I do not understand cat, but wish I did. Tanda has taken the opportunity to hide from the friend and is no longer in evidence. She is happy, having convinced QC that the attention from the friend was not only welcome, but much better attention than QC gets from this woman. I tell Mandy to go to her room, dry off, and get ready for bed. Mandy gripes but leaves the area. A couple of minutes later, she comes barreling back into the room to tell me that Berfert and QC are both laying on her bed, cleaning each other. I can only be glad that Tanada has not seen them as the whole mess would start over. I find myself thinking about all those people who have a lot of cats and wondering if their lives are this lively, and what they would do if things were as nutty at their house as they are at mine. I think either the cats or I need a vacation.
