Cat Wars - the continuing tale

by Pam Shirk, North Carolina, USA

--------------

As you all know, Tanda and QC are having a custody battle over the sleeping places, sitting spots and now food dishes, litter boxes and, unfortunately, me. When I go on line, QC loves to jump into her window pouch and keep me company. When I'm chatting with Rob, she helps by walking on the keyboard and drooling on my shoulder. Needless to say, I'm getting used to picking fur out of my mouth and off my face and typing at the same time. Tanda usually is either glaring at us from her nest on top of the highboy or from on my bed.

Tonight, shortly after getting out of the chats with Rob, Tanda decided that QC had no right to hog the meowma. I had just shifted QC back to her nest from on top of the mouse, when Tanda marched over to the edge of the bed and growled at us. QC gave her the wide eyed what's your problem stare, then started cleaning herself. I'm not sure if it was from the indignity of having Meowmy moving her or from trying to prove to Tanda that she didn't either hear or care what she thought. Tanda zeroed in on QC, leaped up to her nest and slapped her on the face quickly a couple of times then took off. QC was left staring at Tanda in disbelief. She then cleaned herself vigorously for a minute or two and is now "asleep" in her nest, if one can sleep with one eye open. Berfert heard the commotion and came out from under the bed during it, but popped back under after deciding that Tanda is not playing with a full deck.

I suppose I should be flattered to be fought over, but I'm more embarrassed than anything. Berfert has the right attitude and if I could fit, I'd join him. As big as he is, he's still smaller than me and can fit under there, though it is a tight fit.
