Good Morning

This was a nice surprise to find so many comments on the newsgroup today. Patty made sure all the critters got extra treats this morning for being such good sports.

I guess I have way too much time on my hands; it doesn't take much to entertain me. For example, last night I was sitting in Patty's love seat watching tv when Willoughby jumped up behind and perched just above my head. I reached up and scratched his ears just there and he started purring for all he was worth, eyes closed, with a big grin on his face.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what would happen next. These critters are as jealous of their prerogatives as any group of preschoolers.

First I heard and felt kind of a vigorous "Whomp!" on the back of the seat and Willoughby stopped purring. I looked at him, and he had this kind of concerned expression on his face. "Whomp!" Again something hit the back of the chair. Willoughby got this kind of faraway look in his eyes. "Whomp!" went the chair, "Myower!" went Willoughby, loud, just as he got this very surprised expression on his face and disappeared from view, then a "Thud!" as he hit the floor. Instantly Sasha started hisspitting and screeching behind the seat, and Willoughby shot across the floor and down the hall "with a hearty Hi-ho Silver (tabby)" and he was gone.

There was a decorous rustling sound behind my head, and Sasha took Willoughby's place waiting to be petted.

I was still puzzled by the whole thing, but as soon as she could stop laughing and get her breath back, Patty explained that Willoughby's tail had been hanging down in back and twitching. Sasha had been running and jumping at it until finally she got a solid bite on it and yanked poor Willoughby out of what she considered to be her rightful place.
