Shoot out at the Patio Corral

by Beverley, Napier, New Zealand

-----

This morning Bonnie and Clyde met Deo at the Patio (OK) Corral. They were investigating the screen door in the patio when Deo, the next-door-neighbour's cat suddenly appeared on the outside of the screen.

All hell broke loose.

Bonnie went into attack mode and expanded from the size of a rat into the size of a small rabbit. Clyde, who lurked well behind her, danced stiff legged, and sideways, hissing and shouting. Deo, who was mightily confused, tried a spot of hissing and growling. Even if he was facing a couple of undersized rats he wasn't going to put up with it.

The noise was frightful. I got the camera and haven't laughed so much for years. John observed that it was easy to be bold when you are safely behind a fly screen door but if Deo was in the house it might be a different story.

When it was all over everyone went off to recover but half an hour later the row started again. Deo had managed to get in the house via an unsecured kitchen cat door. I thought Bonnie was going to pop with rage. Clyde just ran. But Bonnie was going to deliver to Deo the thrashing of his life. Deo is a huge grey and white cat and was in the past regularly thrashed by Ollie. He must have thought all his nightmares were being revived because he took one look at an enraged, pulsating Bonnie and fled through the cat door.

Bonnie was so worked up that she hissed and growled at poor Clyde when he approached her. He wisely took off and waited till she cooled down.
